Auditorium Prof. M.K. Tadjudin, FK Online News — In an effort to strengthen collaboration in the Tri Dharma of Higher Education—covering education and teaching, research, and community service—six Faculties of Medicine (FK) from State Islamic Higher Education Institutions (PTKIN) signed a Memorandum of Cooperation (MoC) during the Launching of the 2026 PTKIN Faculty of Medicine Consortium at the Faculty of Medicine Building, UIN Jakarta, on Tuesday, 24 February 2026.
The agreement involved the Faculty of Medicine UIN Jakarta along with five other PTKIN Faculties of Medicine: Faculty of Medicine UIN Alauddin Makassar, Faculty of Medicine UIN Maulana Malik Ibrahim Malang, Faculty of Medicine UIN Walisongo Semarang, Faculty of Medicine UIN Sunan Ampel Surabaya, and Faculty of Medicine UIN Sulthan Thaha Saifuddin Jambi.
Witnessing this historic moment was the Director General of Islamic Education at the Ministry of Religious Affairs of the Republic of Indonesia, Prof. Dr. H. Amien Suyitno. In his remarks, he emphasized that Faculties of Medicine within PTKIN bear the responsibility to address national health challenges for the Muslim community. He expressed hope that the consortium would not merely serve as a forum for meetings, but also generate tangible social action.
“We must ensure that all Faculties of Medicine under PTKIN are able to provide real contributions, particularly in empowering our communities, including Free Health Check (CKG) initiatives. We have many Islamic boarding schools and students who require access to healthcare services,” he stressed.
In addition, the Rector of UIN Jakarta, Prof. Asep Saepuddin, welcomed the collaboration enthusiastically, describing it as momentum to strengthen quality assurance and the distinctive character of medical faculties under the Ministry of Religious Affairs. He emphasized that this partnership must produce meaningful added value for society, going beyond the standards of medical faculties in general.
“Faculties of Medicine under PTKIN must offer added value. What should we present to society? It is not enough to simply be a Faculty of Medicine—we must provide something more,” he stated.
Prof. Asep Saepuddin further expressed hope that the spirit of collaboration would be sustained for the noble mission of the medical profession. “Once again, I hope that the deans of the Faculties of Medicine will continue to build this foundation—love your university, love your profession, love your career, love your Faculty of Medicine. God willing, it will continue to progress,” he added.
Separately, in an interview session, the Dean of the Faculty of Medicine UIN Jakarta, Dr. dr. Achmad Zaki, explained that the consortium was established to align the direction of the six PTKIN Faculties of Medicine that are now officially operating. He noted that besides UIN Jakarta, which was established in 2004, the PTKIN medical education network is now strengthened by the presence of Faculties of Medicine in Malang, Makassar, Jambi, Surabaya, and Semarang.
Dr. Zaki emphasized that the current landscape of medical education is highly dynamic, requiring close coordination and collaboration among Faculties of Medicine within PTKIN.
“We are currently facing a dynamic reality in medical education, which demands cooperation, coordination, and collaboration among PTKIN Faculties of Medicine in order to establish a clear and distinctive identity,” he asserted.
With the signing of this Memorandum of Cooperation, the six PTKIN Faculties of Medicine reaffirm their shared commitment to building sustainable synergy, strengthening the quality of medical education, and delivering tangible contributions to improving public health through focused and impactful collaboration.
