Faculty of Medicine Building, FK News Online — In commemoration of World Hepatitis Day, the Faculty of Medicine of UIN Syarif Hidayatullah Jakarta, through its Medical Research Center Unit (MRCU), organized a community service program offering Hepatitis A vaccinations to members of the faculty’s academic community on the fourth floor of the Faculty of Medicine Building on Tuesday, July 28, 2026.

The program followed a previous Hepatitis A vaccination initiative conducted for the general public. Through this activity, MRCU sought to strengthen protection for lecturers, administrative staff, and students who will work in healthcare settings or interact directly with patients and the wider community.

The vaccination program involved lecturers and healthcare professionals from the Faculty of Medicine who served as vaccinators, health screening officers, observers, and data entry personnel.

The vaccination team consisted of dr. Dwiva Wulan Guri and dr. Hapsari Abdining Ilahi, while health screenings were conducted by dr. Arih Fuji Utami and dr. Munifatuzzahra. Din Fitri Rochmawati and the MRCU team assisted participants with the data registration process.

The program began with participant registration and health screening, followed by vaccine administration. Participants were then observed for 15 minutes to monitor possible Adverse Events Following Immunization before completing the evaluation form.

Qif, a Faculty of Medicine student from the 2023 cohort, expressed enthusiasm about participating in the vaccination program. He said the Hepatitis A vaccination provided important personal protection before students entered the clinical clerkship stage of their medical education, during which they would interact directly with patients and members of the community.

“This vaccination is an important preventive measure against Hepatitis A. We will eventually begin our clinical clerkship and engage directly with the community, so it is essential for us to receive protection as early as possible,” he said.

He hoped similar programs would continue as part of the faculty’s commitment to safeguarding the health of its academic community, particularly students preparing to enter clinical practice.

Through the program, the Faculty of Medicine of UIN Jakarta reaffirmed its commitment to supporting health promotion and disease prevention while strengthening awareness of vaccination as an essential protective measure for healthcare professionals and future healthcare workers.

Hepatitis A is a liver infection caused by the Hepatitis A virus. It is commonly transmitted through contaminated food or water, as well as through close contact with an infected person.

Although most patients recover without permanent liver damage, the disease may cause fever, nausea, vomiting, abdominal pain, and jaundice, which can significantly disrupt daily activities.

Maintaining proper hygiene, adopting healthy habits, and receiving vaccination are therefore essential measures for preventing transmission, particularly among individuals who frequently interact with the public, including medical students undergoing clinical training and healthcare professionals.
