FK UIN Jakarta News Online – In supporting the development of students’ academic and non-academic skills, the Faculty of Medicine at UIN Syarif Hidayatullah Jakarta provides various programs and facilities to support student activities beyond classroom learning. This was explained by the Vice Dean for Student Affairs, Alumni, and Cooperation, drg. Laifa Annisa Hendarmin, Ph.D., during her presentation on student support programs.

At the beginning of her presentation, drg. Laifa explained that FK UIN Jakarta has several student organizations, including the Student Senate (SEMA), Student Executive Board (DEMA), and the Faculty’s Organizations for Interest and Knowledge Development (OPK FK).

The faculty also has UIN Syahid Medical Rescue (USMR), an autonomous organization under FK UIN Jakarta that focuses on emergency medical rescue, disaster response, and first aid.

In addition, students can participate in the Medical Researcher Community (MERCY), an organization that focuses on scientific research, media studies, and the development of critical thinking. Another organization is the Center of Indonesian Medical Student Activity (CIMSA), which focuses on independent, national, inclusive, and non-political activities in the fields of social service and public health. CIMSA is also internationally affiliated with the International Federation of Medical Students’ Associations (IFMSA).

FK UIN Jakarta also supports students in building global networks through academic development programs, including student exchange opportunities. The faculty has established partnerships with several universities abroad, including Tohoku University, Chiang Mai University, and universities in Taiwan, which have been running for several years. Conversely, FK UIN Jakarta also welcomes international students to interact and participate in learning activities at the faculty.

In addition, scholarship programs are continuously provided to support students’ education. “Regarding scholarships at FK UIN, there are several programs, including KIP, Beasiswa Indonesia Bangkit, the Ministry of Health’s Affirmation Scholarship, as well as other external and internal scholarships, one of which is the Social Trust Fund,” she explained.

As the Vice Dean responsible for alumni affairs, drg. Laifa also introduced the Career Development Unit (CDU) and Alumni Mentoring Program. These programs provide support to alumni after completing their education under the faculty’s guidance. FK UIN Jakarta continues to support its students even after graduation through ongoing mentoring.

“Once they graduate, they will receive mentoring, especially if they intend to pursue a specialist program. They will be provided with guidance to prepare for and navigate further specialist education,” she explained.

Concluding her presentation, drg. Laifa explained that FK UIN Jakarta also provides a complaint mechanism as part of its commitment to protecting students’ welfare. Through this service, students and parents can submit complaints regarding various issues they may experience, including alleged verbal abuse and other forms of violence.

The faculty also provides a complaint channel via email, allowing students and parents to submit reports and receive appropriate follow-up in accordance with the applicable procedures.
