Enhancing Clinical Competence, Faculty of Medicine UIN Jakarta Holds Fresh Cadaver Suturing Class

Faculty of Medicine Building, FK Online News — The Faculty of Medicine (FK) of UIN Syarif Hidayatullah Jakarta held the 1st Fresh Cadaver Suturing Class as part of its efforts to enhance surgical skills competence among students and healthcare professionals. Carrying the theme “Real Anatomy. Real Technique. Real Confidence.”, the activity took place on the 4th floor of the Faculty of Medicine on Thursday (June 11, 2026).

The Fresh Cadaver Suturing Class is one of the training programs that provides participants with direct learning experience using anatomical tissue that closely resembles real clinical conditions. Through this activity, participants not only learned wound suturing techniques, but also gained an understanding of the basic principles of proper tissue handling in surgical procedures.

The program featured several speakers and instructors from the field of plastic surgery, who shared their clinical experience and practical skills with the participants. The materials delivered covered basic techniques as well as approaches commonly used in daily surgical practice.

dr. Nilam Permatasari, M.Med.Sc., Sp.BP-RE, explained the importance of mastering suturing techniques as one of the fundamental competencies that must be possessed by future doctors and healthcare professionals working in clinical fields. According to her, this ability is not only related to technical skills, but also concerns patient safety and the quality of medical outcomes.

Meanwhile, dr. Ido Bagus Insani, M.M., M.H.S., Sp.BP-RE, emphasized that fresh cadaver-based training provides a learning experience that more closely reflects actual clinical situations. Through this method, participants are able to understand the characteristics of human body tissue more realistically compared to conventional simulation.

On the same occasion, dr. Nur Ariningswati, Sp.BP-RE, stated that practice-based learning is an effective approach to improving participants’ confidence when facing clinical cases in the field. She noted that direct experience is essential in developing accuracy, motor skills, and decision-making abilities in medical procedures.

Furthermore, dr. Dwi Wicaksono, Sp.BP-RE, Subsp.M.K.(K), encouraged participants to continuously develop their clinical abilities through ongoing practice. He emphasized that surgical competence cannot be acquired through theory alone, but requires a consistent learning process and adequate practical experience.

Through the Fresh Cadaver Suturing Class, FK UIN Jakarta hopes to continue providing innovative training programs that are relevant to developments in medical science. The activity also reflects the faculty’s commitment to producing competent, professional graduates who are ready to face future challenges in healthcare services.
