Dr. E. Joesoef MediCORE, FK UIN Online News – The Faculty of Medicine (FK), UIN Syarif Hidayatullah Jakarta, has expanded its educational facilities through a collaboration with RPX Group and Republikorp. The partnership marked the inauguration of a new facility, the Dr. Edi Yusuf Medical Conference and Educational Room (MediCORE), located on the fifth floor of the FK UIN Jakarta building, on Thursday (October 29, 2026).

The inauguration ceremony was attended by Founder and Chairman of RPX Group, Amb. Harsha E. Joesoef, M.Sc.; Founder and Chairman of Republikorp, Norman Joesoef, M.S., (DEF); Commissioner of RPX Group, Ibnu Joesoef; Dean of FK UIN Jakarta, Dr. dr. Achmad Zaki, M.Epid., Sp.OT., FICS.; Vice Dean for Administration and General Affairs, Dr. dr. Erike Anggraini Suwarsono, M.Pd., MK.; along with other faculty officials.

During his presentation, Dean of FK UIN Jakarta, Dr. dr. Achmad Zaki, explained that the room was carefully designed with the assistance of professional design consultants. The facility features acoustic wall panels, a large video wall measuring 6 × 2 meters, a 4K camera equipped with motion-tracking and voice-guided features, a digital conference audio system, and wireless conference microphones. With a capacity of up to 50 participants, the room is designed to support seminars, conferences, and medical education activities.

"I believe this room is highly representative of the facilities we need to organize seminars and conferences, which will frequently be used for medical education purposes. That is why we named it the Dr. Yusuf Medical Conference and Educational Room," he explained.

In addition to the inauguration of MediCORE, RPX Group also donated an operational vehicle through its Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) program. The vehicle is intended to support the mobility of lecturers, students, and educational staff in carrying out academic and clinical activities across approximately nine to ten affiliated teaching hospitals throughout the Greater Jakarta (Jabodetabek) area.

Following the Dean's remarks, Founder and Chairman of RPX Group, Amb. Harsha E. Joesoef, M.Sc., highlighted the role of Dr. Edi Joesoef in establishing and developing the two companies before passing on their legacy to the next generation, including Norman Joesoef and Ibnu Joesoef, who continue to contribute to the companies' operations and partnerships.

"We hope that MediCORE and the educational transportation vehicle we have donated will be properly maintained and utilized to their fullest potential by our colleagues at UIN Syarif Hidayatullah Jakarta," he expressed.

Discussing future development plans, Dr. dr. Achmad Zaki announced that FK UIN Jakarta had secured funding support through the State Sharia Securities (SBSN) scheme for 2027. The funding will support the construction of a new five-story building called the Tower of Health Research, Academic and Laboratory Resources and Medical Center (Thalamic Tower).

In collaboration with RPX Group and Republikorp, the faculty also plans to establish the Emilia Soedarmono Joesoef Genomic & Cancer Center, a laboratory facility that will occupy the second and third floors of the new building.

"Therefore, through the support of the Government of the Republic of Indonesia, Alhamdulillah, UIN Jakarta has received funding assistance through the State Sharia Securities (SBSN) scheme for the construction of a new building in 2027. The building will be constructed in the front area of the UIN Jakarta campus complex. It will be named the Tower of Health Research, Academic and Laboratory Resources and Medical Center, or Thalamic Tower, with one of its primary focuses being the development of health research, particularly cancer and oncology research," he explained.

As part of FK UIN Jakarta's efforts to strengthen its research excellence, particularly in cancer and oncology, Dr. dr. Achmad Zaki emphasized the urgency of addressing the growing burden of cancer in Indonesia. He highlighted lung cancer as the second most common type of newly diagnosed cancer in the country, which also places a significant financial burden on the national healthcare system through the Social Security Agency for Health (BPJS Kesehatan).

To address these challenges, the faculty has been developing an integrated academic and research ecosystem, including a pulmonology specialist program, a master's program in biomedical sciences, and the planned establishment of the Genomic & Cancer Center.

"One of our leading research priorities is oncology or cancer, particularly lung cancer. This is a serious concern because Indonesia records more than 400,000 new cancer cases and 200,000 cancer-related deaths. Meanwhile, lung cancer accounts for approximately 38,000 new cases, representing nearly 10 percent of all cancer cases in Indonesia, making it the second most common cancer. Beyond the high number of cases, the cost of cancer treatment also presents a major challenge to national healthcare financing through BPJS," he explained.

As part of its commitment to strengthening medical education and advancing cancer and oncology research, FK UIN Jakarta has developed MediCORE and is preparing for the establishment of the Emilia Soedarmono Joesoef Genomic & Cancer Center, which will become an integral part of the upcoming Thalamic Tower.
