FK UIN Jakarta Partners with FKUI to Hold Basic Clinical Teacher Workshop
Faculty of Medicine Online News – In an effort to produce high-quality medical graduates, the Faculty of Medicine (FK) of UIN Syarif Hidayatullah Jakarta invited 42 clinical educators from Fatmawati General Hospital, UIN Syarif Hidayatullah Hospital, and internal faculty lecturers to participate in the Basic Clinical Teacher Workshop. The program was conducted in collaboration with expert teams from the Department of Medical Education, Faculty of Medicine, Universitas Indonesia (FKUI), and was held at the Faculty of Medicine building on Friday (July 3, 2026).
The enthusiasm and attendance rate of participants were notably high, with 38 participants on the first day and 36 participants on the second day. Officially opened by the Vice Dean for Academic Affairs of FK UIN Jakarta, dr. Fika Ekayanti, M.Med.Ed., Ph.D., the workshop combined asynchronous and synchronous learning sessions over two days. Active participation was observed not only among junior lecturers but also senior lecturers, who used the forum as an academic refresher.
The workshop was designed in an interactive format through a combination of discussions, case studies, and practice-based learning covering 12 critical areas in clinical education. Clinical educators received comprehensive materials delivered by eight FKUI experts, including Prof. dr. Ardi Findyartini, Ph.D., Prof. dr. Diantha Soemantri, MMedEd, PhD, Prof. Dr. dr. Sandra Widaty, SpKK(K), and Prof. Dr. dr. Sri Linuwih Menaldi, SpKK(K).
The forum specifically addressed the application of teaching in clinical settings. Topics included clinical reasoning, adaptation of learning and assessment methods, teaching procedural skills, and the provision of constructive feedback. Participants were also trained to implement Work-based Assessment (WBA) systems such as Mini-CEX and DOPS, while deepening aspects of humanism, professionalism, and ethical dilemma resolution in clinical practice.
The enhancement of clinical educators’ competencies is expected to support the implementation of safe and high-quality clinical learning environments, including patient safety in teaching hospitals where students conduct their training.
The Head of the Medical Profession Education Study Program and organizer, Dr. Risahmawati, Ph.D., emphasized that the main objective of this training is to create an ideal learning ecosystem for prospective doctors.
“Through this medical teacher training, we hope that learning in teaching hospitals will become more qualified and also create a safe learning environment that supports students psychologically and physiologically, enabling them to become better doctors in the future,” said Dr. Risahmawati.
In line with this, the Head of the Training Module and one of the speakers, Dr. dr. Rita Mustika, M.Epid., explained the continuous objective of the program.
“The Clinical Teacher training for clinical educators is a routine activity conducted by the Faculty of Medicine, UIN Syarif Hidayatullah Jakarta, to ensure that clinical educators have a strong understanding of the educational process for medical students, both in the medical profession program and residency training,” she stated.
The relevance of the materials to challenges in teaching hospitals received positive appreciation from participants. Dr. Nirwan, one of the workshop participants, considered the knowledge gained highly applicable in guiding competency assessments of trainees in clinical education settings.
“The experience was extraordinary. The facilities and support at FK UIN Jakarta make it easier for us as educators. Hopefully, in the future there will be advanced-level training so that our knowledge continues to be updated, ensuring that graduates from UIN become high-quality doctors,” said Dr. Nirwan.
Through this workshop, FK UIN Jakarta further strengthens its efforts to enhance the competence of clinical educators as a key pillar in improving the quality of medical education. This continuous initiative demonstrates the institution’s commitment to producing professional doctors ready to serve society.
