Faculty of Medicine Building, FK Online News – The Faculty of Medicine (FK) at UIN Syarif Hidayatullah Jakarta successfully held the 8th International Meeting and Medical Network (IMMAN) 2026 on August 5-7, 2026, under the theme "From Fat to Fact," bringing together academics, researchers, clinicians, healthcare workers, and students to discuss obesity from various scientific perspectives.

IMMAN 2026 served as a scientific forum addressing obesity comprehensively, covering metabolic, lifestyle, clinical, and laboratory research aspects. This cross-disciplinary discussion was part of efforts to broaden understanding of obesity while encouraging the development of research in medicine and biomedical sciences.

The event featured a number of international speakers from Canada, Malaysia, Japan, and the United Kingdom. Professors and lecturers from the Biomedical Sciences Study Program at FK UIN Jakarta also contributed to the series of scientific activities.

The presence of speakers from various countries and academic backgrounds gave participants the opportunity to gain broader perspectives on developments in obesity science and research. The forum also served as an opportunity to build academic networks and open up cross-institutional collaboration opportunities.

27 Presenters Take Part in Scientific Oral Presentation

In addition to the scientific presentation sessions, IMMAN 2026 also featured a Scientific Oral Presentation attended by 27 presenters. The presenters were divided into four breakout rooms to present their research findings.

One Best Oral Presenter was selected from each breakout room. The winners received awards in the form of cash prizes as well as an Article Processing Charge (APC) waiver for publication in The Avicenna Medical Journal (AMEDJ), a journal published by the Faculty of Medicine at UIN Syarif Hidayatullah Jakarta that has been accredited SINTA 3.

This form of recognition serves as support for researchers to continue developing and disseminating their research findings through scientific publications. As such, the IMMAN forum is not only a space for research presentation but also encourages the continuation of research outcomes through to the publication stage.

Featuring Hands-on Laboratory Training

The IMMAN 2026 series also included Hands-on Laboratory Training, attended by seven participants from six medical faculties.

Training participants came from various institutions, including international participants from Egypt, Spain, and Cyprus. From Indonesia, participants came from Atma Jaya Catholic University of Indonesia, UIN Walisongo Semarang, and Trisakti University.

Through this practice-based activity, participants had the opportunity to broaden their experience in laboratory learning and research. The presence of participants from various institutions also strengthened interaction and the exchange of experience among academics and future professionals in the field of medicine.

More than just a scientific event, IMMAN 2026 served as a platform for knowledge exchange, network development, and the strengthening of international and inter-institutional collaboration. The meeting brought together various parties from academic and professional backgrounds to jointly discuss developments in medical science, particularly related to obesity and biomedical sciences.

With the conclusion of the IMMAN 2026 series, it is hoped that the networks that have been established can continue to grow into collaborations in education, research, and the development of medical science.
