Marking Its 21st Anniversary, UIN Jakarta Faculty of Medicine Strengthens Commitment to Medical Education Development and Community Service
Medical Building, FK Online News – The Faculty of Medicine (FK) of UIN Syarif Hidayatullah Jakarta held the peak celebration of its 21st Anniversary as a moment to reflect on the faculty’s journey while reaffirming its commitment to advancing excellent, integrative medical education that delivers broad benefits to society. The event took place at the Faculty of Medicine Building on Saturday (June 13, 2026).
The celebration was attended by the Rector of UIN Syarif Hidayatullah Jakarta, Prof. Asep Saepudin Jahar, M.A., Ph.D.; Vice Rector for Academic Affairs, Prof. Dr. Ahmad Tholabi Kharlie, S.Ag., S.H., M.H., M.A.; Vice Rector for General Administration, Prof. Dr. Imam Subchi, M.A.; Vice Rector for Student Affairs, Prof. Dr. Ali Munhanif, M.A., Ph.D.; Vice Rector for Cooperation and Institutional Development, Din Wahid, M.A., Ph.D.; and Chairperson of the Indonesian Red Cross (PMI) Jakarta Province, Drs. H. Beky Mardani.
Representing the host faculty were Dean of the Faculty of Medicine, Dr. dr. Achmad Zaki, M.Epid., Sp.OT., FICS; Vice Dean for General Administration, Planning, and Finance, Dr. dr. Erike Anggraini Suwarsono, M.Pd., Sp.MK.; Vice Dean for Student Affairs, Cooperation, and Alumni Relations, drg. Laifa Annisa Hendarmin, Ph.D.; heads of study programs, lecturers, and members of the academic community.
On the occasion, the Faculty of Medicine also signed a cooperation agreement with the Indonesian Red Cross (PMI) Jakarta Province, attended directly by its Chairperson, Drs. H. Beky Mardani. The collaboration covers various areas, including research development, humanitarian activities, as well as internship and field-learning opportunities for students.
In his report, Dean of the Faculty of Medicine UIN Jakarta, Dr. dr. Achmad Zaki, M.Epid., Sp.OT., FICS, stated that the faculty’s 21st anniversary marks an important milestone, reflecting its continued growth and maturity as a medical education institution within Indonesia’s State Islamic Higher Education system (PTKIN).
"At the age of 21, the Faculty of Medicine of UIN Jakarta continues to mature. This journey has been marked by various developments, including the strengthening and establishment of new study programs as part of our efforts to enhance the quality of medical education and healthcare services in Indonesia," he said.
The Dean explained that this progress is also reflected in the contributions of the faculty’s alumni, who are now serving in various regions across Indonesia. To date, the Faculty of Medicine UIN Jakarta has graduated approximately 1,200 alumni working as healthcare professionals, academics, researchers, and practitioners in various sectors of healthcare services.
"Alhamdulillah, around 1,200 alumni of the Faculty of Medicine UIN Jakarta are now spread across different regions of Indonesia. They represent the values instilled during their education here—professionalism, integrity, and dedication to serving society," he added.
According to him, the achievements attained so far are part of a collective effort to realize the vision of the founding fathers of the Faculty of Medicine UIN Jakarta, who aspired to establish a high-quality medical education institution capable of making meaningful contributions to the nation.
"We strive to continue the great vision of the founders of the Faculty of Medicine UIN Jakarta. What has been achieved today is inseparable from the foundation they built. Our task is to continue and develop it so that its benefits can be felt more widely by society," he said.
Meanwhile, Rector of UIN Jakarta, Prof. Asep Saepudin Jahar, M.A., Ph.D., expressed his appreciation for the faculty’s continuous progress in education, research, and community service.
According to him, every academic discipline has its own way of contributing to humanity. In this context, medical education occupies a particularly strategic position because it is directly related to preserving and saving human lives.
"Every field of knowledge has its own path. Some contribute through policy, education, or research. The Faculty of Medicine holds a noble role because it directly serves to help and save human lives," he stated.
The Rector further emphasized that the Faculty of Medicine UIN Jakarta possesses distinctive characteristics compared to many other medical schools. In addition to equipping students with strong medical competencies, the faculty also instills Islamic values and spirituality, which form part of UIN Jakarta’s unique identity.
"The strength of the Faculty of Medicine UIN Jakarta lies not only in its medical sciences but also in the integration of knowledge, Islamic values, and spirituality. This is a distinctive characteristic that must continue to be preserved and developed," he remarked.
He also encouraged the faculty to expand its contribution through the development of various specialist medical education programs needed by society.
"I hope the Faculty of Medicine UIN Jakarta continues to grow, including by opening new specialist programs that meet public needs. In this way, UIN Jakarta’s contribution to the healthcare sector will become even greater," he said.
Chairperson of PMI Jakarta Province, Drs. H. Beky Mardani, welcomed the collaboration with UIN Jakarta. According to him, synergy between higher education institutions and humanitarian organizations plays an important role in supporting healthcare services while strengthening humanitarian values within society.
Through this partnership, PMI and UIN Jakarta are expected to develop various collaborative programs supporting research activities, community service initiatives, and student capacity-building through internship and field-learning programs.
In addition to academic and ceremonial activities, the 21st Anniversary celebration of the Faculty of Medicine UIN Jakarta also featured various social and community service programs. These included a blood donation drive in collaboration with PMI, free medical check-ups for the public, mass circumcision services, and the presentation of the M.K. Tadjudin Scholarship to outstanding students and those requiring educational support.
