SHIMESCO 2026 Officially Opens, UIN Jakarta Faculty of Medicine Welcomes Participants of National Medical Competition

Tadjudin Auditorium, FK Online News – The Faculty of Medicine (FK) of UIN Syarif Hidayatullah Jakarta officially opened the series of activities for the Syarif Hidayatullah Integrated Medical Olympiad and Competition (SHIMESCO) 2026, held at the Prof. M.K. Tadjudin Auditorium on Friday (June 5, 2026).

SHIMESCO is one of the student-led scientific events organized as part of the 21st Anniversary Celebration of the Faculty of Medicine, UIN Jakarta. The competition serves as a platform for high school and university students from various regions to develop their academic abilities, enhance critical thinking skills, and broaden their knowledge in the fields of health and medicine.

The opening ceremony was attended by the Vice Dean for Student Affairs, Cooperation, and Alumni of the Faculty of Medicine, UIN Jakarta, drg. Laifa Annisa Hendarmin, Ph.D., members of the organizing committee, and participants competing in various categories of SHIMESCO 2026. Filled with enthusiasm, the event welcomed participants from different schools and educational institutions who will compete throughout the three-day program.

In her remarks, drg. Laifa Annisa Hendarmin expressed her appreciation to all participants for choosing the Faculty of Medicine, UIN Jakarta, as a place to develop their academic potential and gain valuable competitive experience in science and health-related fields.

She warmly welcomed all participants and emphasized that the event should not only serve as a competition but also as a space for learning, exchanging experiences, and building networks among students who share an interest in medicine and healthcare.

"Welcome to the Faculty of Medicine, UIN Syarif Hidayatullah Jakarta. We hope that all participants will gain valuable experiences, uphold the spirit of sportsmanship, and enjoy every learning process throughout the competition," she stated.

The SHIMESCO 2026 program features a variety of scientific competitions designed to challenge and develop participants’ abilities, including the Medical Olympiad, Scientific Writing Competition, and Health Education Video Competition. In addition, the final day of the event will feature Medical House (MEDHOUSE), a program aimed at introducing high school students to medical education and providing insights into pursuing studies in the healthcare field.

During the opening session, the organizing committee also presented an overview of the event schedule, competition mechanisms, and regulations that participants are required to follow throughout the program. This session was intended to ensure that all participants clearly understand the stages of the competition and can participate effectively.

As part of the Faculty’s 21st Anniversary celebration, SHIMESCO reflects the Faculty of Medicine’s commitment to fostering a culture of scientific inquiry, research, and innovation among the younger generation. Through this event, the Faculty hopes to inspire and nurture future healthcare professionals who are competent, ethical, and collaborative in addressing the health challenges of the future.

The SHIMESCO and MEDHOUSE series will continue until June 7, 2026, featuring competitions, educational activities, introductions to medical education, and an awards night to recognize the winners of the competition.
