BBKKK Building, FK News Online — The Faculty of Medicine of UIN Syarif Hidayatullah Jakarta has expanded its strategic collaboration network by signing a Cooperation Agreement with the Jakarta Occupational Safety and Health Center, known as BBKKK, under the Ministry of Manpower of the Republic of Indonesia. The signing took place at the BBKKK Building on Tuesday, July 28, 2026.

The partnership is aimed at strengthening cooperation in education, research, community service, and the development of occupational medicine.

The event was attended by Dean of the Faculty of Medicine of UIN Jakarta, dr. Achmad Zaki, M.Epid., Sp.OT., FICS; Vice Dean for Student Affairs, Cooperation, and Alumni, drg. Laifa Annisa Hendarmin, Ph.D.; Professor of the Faculty of Medicine, Prof. (HC) Dr. dr. Mukhtar Ikhsan, Sp.P(K), MARS; Head of BBKKK Jakarta, dr. Yessie Kualasari, M.K.K.K.; and members of the BBKKK leadership team.

Achmad Zaki said that the partnership reflects the faculty’s commitment to building collaboration with strategic institutions.

“We hope this cooperation will not end with the signing of the agreement, but will be implemented through concrete programs that benefit both institutions. This collaboration opens broad opportunities in education, research, and the competency development of lecturers and students,” he said.

He added that occupational medicine is becoming increasingly important amid the growing health challenges found in modern workplaces. Through partnerships with relevant institutions, the Faculty of Medicine seeks to strengthen its academic capacity while making a meaningful contribution to society.

One of the main areas of collaboration will be research on environmental health and its effects on human health. This includes studies on diseases caused by environmental exposure and the relationship between air quality and respiratory health.

The research is expected to produce scientific recommendations that can support policymaking and disease prevention efforts in the workplace.

Head of BBKKK Jakarta, Yessie Kualasari, welcomed the partnership, emphasizing that collaboration with higher education institutions is a strategic step in strengthening occupational safety and health services in Indonesia.

“BBKKK is responsible for occupational safety and health testing, laboratory services, and various other technical activities. We are therefore open to collaborating with the Faculty of Medicine of UIN Jakarta, not only in training, but also in research, scientific development, and the competency enhancement of health professionals,” she said.

She also noted that BBKKK’s laboratory facilities could support academic activities and joint research projects that contribute directly to improving the health and well-being of workers in Indonesia.

During the event, Mukhtar Ikhsan highlighted the importance of respiratory health as a key area in occupational medicine.

He explained that exposure to dust, chemicals, air pollution, and biological agents in the workplace could increase the risk of occupational lung diseases. Strong collaboration between educational institutions and government technical agencies is therefore needed to advance research, education, and innovation in the prevention, early detection, and treatment of respiratory diseases among workers.

Through this partnership, the Faculty of Medicine of UIN Jakarta and BBKKK Jakarta are expected to develop sustainable programs that strengthen occupational health education, research, professional competency, and public health services.
