Visit of the Dean of Faculty of Medicine UIN Jakarta to the Graduate School of Medicine of Tohoku University for Collaboration in Student and Staff Mobility, and Exchange Program
Monday, October 30, 2023. Dean of the Faculty of Medicine, UIN Jakarta, along with Deputy Dean 2 for General Administration / Head of the Microbiology Section and Deputy Dean 3 for Student Affairs & Cooperation held a meeting with the Dean of the Graduate School of Medicine, Tohoku University and Chairman of the Department of Microbiology & Immunology, Prof. Naoto Ishii and Director of International Exchange Office Prof. Oshitani from Dept. of Virology is located on the Graduate School of Medicine Campus, Tohoku Univ., Sendai, Japan which is more than 100 years old (est. 1872).
This Dean's Meeting resulted in an agreement on the Student Mobility & Exchange program between students of FK UIN Jakarta and Tohoku University, as well as an exploration of sending doctoral program students from staff and alums of FK UIN to Tohoku University regarding several topics as strengthening the Diagnostic & Molecular Research Center. Including the Field of Microbiology. & Immunology and Infectious Diseases.
This collaboration also continues the initial process, where there are currently teaching staff from the Medical Information & Technology Unit (MITU) FKUIN dr. Hiro Faisal, MT, is taking a doctoral program in medical informatics at the Tohoku Graduate School of Medicine with an LPDP scholarship. On this occasion, Doctor Hiro, accompanied by his sensei Prof. Nakayama from the International Research Institute of Disaster Science, explained the progress of his doctoral research regarding integrating Indonesian disaster data before the Dean of FK UIN Jakarta.
Meetings were also held with Assoc. Prof. Murakami from Dept. of Respiratory Medicine Tohoku University Hospital regarding collaboration for residency/fellowship preparation for the planned Pulmonology & Respiratory Medicine Specialist Education Program, FK UIN Jakarta.
This Dean's Meeting will be followed up with an MoU between the Tohoku School of Medicine and UIN Jakarta and the implementation of Student Mobility in FY 2024/2025 as part of the UIN rectorate's vision for globalization and international recognition.
