FK UIN Jakarta and J Trust Bank Hold CSR Program on Ear Health at Asshiddiqiyah Islamic Boarding School
Jakarta, FK Online News — The Faculty of Medicine (FK) of UIN Syarif Hidayatullah Jakarta, in collaboration with J Trust Bank, organized a community service program titled “Healthy Hearing, Secured Future” at Pondok Pesantren Asshiddiqiyah, Kedoya Utara, Kebon Jeruk, on Friday (February 27, 2026).
The initiative was part of the bank’s Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) program, focusing on ear and hearing health education for elementary-level students (santri). Approximately 30–40 students participated in a series of activities, including educational sessions, interactive workshops, and ear examinations and cerumen (earwax) removal conducted by medical doctors.
In her remarks, Silva Kusuma Dewi from the Operations Division of J Trust Bank stated that the collaboration reflects the bank’s commitment to supporting the health development of the younger generation.
“We believe that the best investment is in the younger generation. Through this CSR program, we aim to contribute to improving children’s health literacy, particularly in ear and hearing health, so they can grow and learn optimally,” she said.
She added that synergy between the academic sector and corporations serves as a strategic model of collaboration in creating sustainable social impact.
Representing the Faculty of Medicine, dr. Khairul Annam, Sp.THT., BKL, emphasized that the program aligns with the Tri Dharma Perguruan Tinggi mandate, particularly in the area of community service.
“This collaboration is intended to enhance ear and hearing health literacy from an early age while fostering healthy lifestyle habits among students at Islamic boarding schools. The education provided is not only informative but also practical, as it includes direct examinations by doctors,” he explained.
He further highlighted that hearing health plays a crucial role in children’s learning processes. Undetected hearing impairments can negatively affect academic performance and social development.
“We hope this initiative marks the beginning of a sustainable community service partnership between FK UIN Jakarta and its strategic partners,” he added.
Educational Materials and Ear Examinations
The program began with a pre-test to assess students’ initial knowledge of ear and hearing health. Participants then attended a plenary education session covering topics such as the anatomy and function of the ear, the hearing process, an introduction to cerumen (earwax), safe ear-cleaning practices, and the impact of excessive gadget use and noise exposure on hearing.
Learning methods were delivered interactively through small group discussions, myth-and-fact activities, case studies on daily habits, and question-and-answer sessions. The program concluded with ear examinations and medically indicated cerumen removal as part of promotive and preventive health interventions.
Also present at the event was drg. Laifa Annisa Hendarmin, Ph.D., who expressed support for the implementation of this community service initiative as part of strengthening the faculty’s role in improving public health standards.
The event concluded with a post-test to evaluate participants’ improvement in understanding the material presented. This evaluation formed part of the program’s outcome measurement to ensure the effectiveness of the educational intervention.
For your information, the program is part of the Medical Research and Community Services Unit (MRCU) agenda of the Faculty of Medicine at UIN Syarif Hidayatullah Jakarta, which focuses on evidence-based health education and community empowerment through partnerships between academic institutions and the corporate sector.
