FK UIN Jakarta Expands International Partnerships, Develops 30 Virtual Patients for Southeast Asia
Faculty Room, FK Online News – The Faculty of Medicine (FK) at UIN Syarif Hidayatullah Jakarta is expanding its international network to enhance human resource capacity, strengthen collaboration, and develop virtual patient learning through the Chapter SEA Jakarta Meeting. The five-day event is being held from April 20 to 24, 2026, at the Faculty Room, 5th Floor, Medical Building.
The event was attended by the Rector of UIN Jakarta, Asep Saepudin Jahar, the Dean of FK, Achmad Zaki, technology expert Andrzej Kononowicz, Project Coordinator Lee Yew Kong, and delegates from various universities, including Karolinska Institute, Jagiellonian University, Universiti Malaya, Taylor's University, Universiti Putra Malaysia, Universitas Gadjah Mada, and representatives from UIN.
In his remarks, Asep Saepudin Jahar stated that the initiative reflects the faculty’s commitment to continuous development in order to serve more patients. He also expressed hope for sustained collaboration among participants.
“As a rector, I hope this is not the last. You can extend, you can do the next research collaboration—not only this, maybe in others. It is very important for us to develop our university, our faculty, and our studies,” he said.
Similarly, Achmad Zaki explained that virtual learning is an effective method but emphasized that FK UIN Jakarta believes every transformation must be grounded in bioethical and spiritual values. “Not just good doctors, but also safe doctors,” he stated.
He further highlighted the importance of integrating the faculty’s vision and mission with virtual learning approaches. “That is why we combine technological transformation with the fundamentals of our ethical values,” he added.
Responding to the initiative, Lee Yew Kong encouraged the gradual adoption of the European virtual patient model in Southeast Asia. He explained that the project aims to initially develop 30 out of 100 virtual patients adapted to regional contexts.
“We are going to create 30 virtual patients adapted from European settings into Malaysian and Indonesian contexts, and these will be used in our programs,” he said.
Lee Yew Kong also acknowledged the significant role of UIN Jakarta as the host of the Chapter SEA Jakarta Meeting 2026. “Without UIN, this project could not succeed,” he remarked.
Through this collaboration, FK UIN Jakarta continues to demonstrate its commitment to advancing medical education through innovation, international cooperation, and the integration of technology with ethical values.
